Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

There is no world I know, to compare with pure imagination...

The drama students of the Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus performed for the fifth time tonight (November 6, 2009). This was my second time watching this particular play, and it was better the second time around. They did a fabulous job altogether. The singing was spectacular, the script was witty and funny, and the scenery was charming and eye-catching.

This was my first time watching one of the high school productions. I was very anxious and excited to watch the play, and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

The characters in the play were characters from both the book and the movie, such as Willy Wonka (Ekolu Kim) and Charlie Bucket (Wesley Kiaha). The two lead roles did a marvelous job with their parts, and they quite literally made the show. If any other person had played either of them, the effect would not have been the same. They were able to play their parts with the grace and ease of seasoned actors. I would not be surprised if one of them went into show business.

Let's not forget all of the other people who enhanced the show, and all of the people who created the beautiful sets.

Good job to all of you!
